Interesting discussion on an automotive vehicle sale venues forum. The part about using his mom's credit card to fund PayPal and for final payment with Western Union sounds phishy.
First time selling a vehicle on ebay. Buyer paid right away (500 deposit through PayPal, the rest via Western Union). I've sent him a message everyday asking about what shipper he's using our if he plans on driving it home (2000 miles).
I need to know so I can be home to take it out of the garage. Zero response or communication whatsoever. I already signed off the title and wrote the bill of sale. All he needs to do is come get it.
What can I do, or does it just sit in my garage till he returns my message?
Doc Sez.. Never accept Full Payment or more than you are willing to lose via PayPal. Though PayPal buyer protection does not cover Vehicles or Vehicle Deposits, If a transaction was funded by Credit Card it is possible to file a chargeback with the card company. An example is here.
Western Union is not recommended for Vehicle Payment by buyer or seller. Best bet is a Bank to Bank Wire Transfer. Have questions about this method, call your bank.
