I was just looking at the AutoCheck report included with the eBay Motors listing for a supposed "2008 Ford Excursion Limited Limousine" -- and was surprised to see that this vehicle has a score of 83 which is "Above range vs. similar 2008 SUV - Large" and that the Title Check is "OK"
The details of the report correctly show that this so-called 2008 Ford Excursion Limited is actually a 2005 Ford Excursion XLT, but somehow AutoCheck thinks that this 2005 XLT is an above average 2008 Limited.
This ridiculous error alone would be enough to make me question the usefulness of anything in any AutoCheck report, but I also wonder about the "No Accidents" part of this particular report. According to the vehicle history part of the report, this vehicle was already in limo service in 2005. The photos in the listing show that the grill and associated front sheetmetal have been replaced with the grill, headlights, etc, from a 2008 Ford pickup truck. I find it hard to believe that any limo service bothered replacing the grill, headlights, etc., on a 2005 vehicle with those from a 2008 just because someone thought they looked better. That kind of work is expensive, it wouldn't be done unless there was a reason to replace the existing front sheet-metal.
Something is very suspicious about this listing, but AutoCheck thinks this 2005 XLT is an above average 2008 Limited. From this eBay motors support forum post.
Personally i would prefer a CarFax Report. CarFax is the authority in vehicle history reports. Only on a datadump like eBay Motors do they offer this "AutoFarce" of a vehicle history report.
And that AutoFarce score is a total joke. They must be trying to score history reports like someones credit score. Wouldn't you prefer a CarFax Report? I know i would!
I wonder who knows less about the car business? eBay or Experian?
